On a rocky outcrop looking out to the Pyrenees to the south and the pastoral idyll of the Gers to the north,
is the fortified village of Montesquiou.
At the western end of the only street in town, part village wall and part medieval cottage, is the wonderful ‘House of the Fortified Gate’.
Previously a bakers and neighbouring terraced cottage, the two are now combined to form a beautiful and inspiringly designed guesthouse. The salon is chic furnished with a tasteful blend of old and new, colourful modern art pieces adorn walls and antique furniture grace the floor. The dining room is likewise superbly furnished with a communal dining table featuring in the centre of the room (evening meals can be arranged with advance warning).
Beyond is the lounge which extends to a beautiful garden and eating terrace with panoramic views of the countryside.
The Bedrooms are elegantly decorated and colour-themed, and each comes with good-sized bathroom.
